Texas I-10 in American Truck Simulator

Consider the Texas heavy-haul route map a work in progress and will later include more states in the central region of the United States. There may be unmarked sleep areas, weigh stations, and scenery towns. I have not yet finished checking the frontage roads for bridge restrictions. Since Texas includes a number of picnic areas without restrooms, I decided to identify those sleep areas as a parking spots to differentiat from full-service rest stops. I plan to update the western states for consistency.

These maps I created for use with my heavy-haul trailers modification in American Truck Simulator may also be used for spotting sleep zone types (motel, truck stop, parking area, rest stop) or to find roads restricted to legal loads only.

The v2.84 update patcher will identify romanced companions with improper scaling affected by old Kiss-Align and correct the companion’s scale. The number of affected companions will be reported during the update process. For any remaining companion not at correct height, set preference Intimacy -> Kiss Actor Align (Enabled-Default) then embrace the companion at a chair or bed which will reset the character’s scale to default (1).

My heavy-haul modification for American Truck Simulator updated for game version 1.46. Like the beet harvester, the cotton harvester (Heavy Cargo pack) is too tall to fit in some of the parking locations so it will also require a combination lowboy trailer. This means its cargo definition has been modified and this modification now requires Heavy Cargo pack. The heavy-haul route map has also been updated for new roads in 1.46 and includes some more town labels.

In American Truck Simulator I noticed the single tridem lowboy seemed limited with the same cargo availability as the tandem trailer. From the Volvo Construction Equipment pack even the Volvo A25G was unavailable to haul on the single tridem lowboy (prior to game version 1.47). After looking at the game files I realized the tridem allowed a higher weight-limit than the tandem and that Volvo A25G missed this weight-limit by only 358 pounds! Also the single lowboy trailers had about the same cargo weight limitations as flatbed trailers. I wanted to haul heavier cargos on a single trailer, so I started looking at real-world examples and rules for inspiration.

I created my “Heavy-Haul Trailers Adjustments” modification for my personal enjoyment. In this post I share my goals and assumptions, some observations, show how to alter trailer weight, how to adjust weight limit, how to add a new configuration, and how to maintain the mod. No new assets added. You may download my file to review as an example or use in your game.
